Thank you for becoming a BASIS Dairy Pro Event Organiser
To benefit fully, we strongly advise you to register all events on the calendar that a dairy farmer could engage with, whether they are:
- off-farm events (e.g. meetings, workshops, conferences)
- e-learning activities (e.g. online modules, quizzes, webinars), or
- subscription publications (e.g. journals, magazines, newsletters, technical papers).
The broader the array of topics that we can promote, also the better. This ranges from technical topics such as lameness, grass quality and nutrition to business areas including management techniques, staffing, legislation and IT/software skills.
In your welcome email you will have received the Event Registration User Notes. These can also be found here and go through the process of registering an event with the scheme.
Should you need to update your contact details at any time, please contact the BASIS Dairy Pro helpline on 01335 210853, or email us at dairypro@basis-reg.co.uk.
Benefits of registering events
By registering your events and adding them to the online calendar, your event is promoted free of charge to any farmer, member or not, across the whole of the UK.
If you identify your event as ‘Open’, the user will be able to read the full details, location and points available for the event.
Events identified as ‘Closed’ will only disclose the title, date and area the event is taking place unless the user is registered to log into your details. However, allowing it to remain visible both promotes your activity and limits clashes of events at similar times, places and topics.
No bookings can be made via the BASIS Dairy Pro website and must be made directly with you via a web link, or the person you identify as the contact for bookings.
The registration process only allows you to submit one event at a time due to the process of awarding points to events. If you are planning a number of events at once, bulk uploads can be arranged through the BASIS Dairy Pro helpline on 01335 210853, or by emailing us at dairypro@basis-reg.co.uk
.What happens after an event is registered?
Within five working days from uploading the event, you will receive an email with a BASIS Dairy Pro sign-in sheet attached stating the points allocation of the event and the reference number for the event. If we are not able to point your event within this timeframe, you will be contacted as we may need further information about the event.
You DO NOT have to use the BASIS Dairy Pro sign in sheet if you do not want to. We will accept your usual/company sign in form provided the BASIS Dairy Pro event reference is included on the form and we can identify which individuals are BASIS Dairy Pro members from (ideally) their membership number but as a minimum by their name and either their date of birth and/or postcode.
We require notification of BASIS Dairy Pro members who attended an event within 28 days of the event taking place. Ideally we would like this information to be sent to dairypro@basis-reg.co.uk either as a spreadsheet or as an image (jpg, png, pdf) of the sign in/attendance sheet. If you would like to post the sign in/attendance sheet to us please send it by recorded delivery for the attention of BASIS Dairy Pro Coordinator.
How are events pointed?
- Any event that can be attributed to one or more of the learning pillars listed below can have points allocated to it.
- Livestock Production
- Business Management
- Environment
- Grassland Management
- Health and Welfare
- Nutrition
- Legislation
- Personal Development
- The overarching pointing structure rules that inform points allocation are:
- Participative events may attract two points per hour of training/learning activity
- Non-participative events may attract one point per hour of training/learning activity
- Participative training is not possible if the attendance at the event exceeds 15 individuals
- A full training day is taken as six hours maximum to allow for lunchtime, and tea/coffee breaks during the day
- Other information taken into consideration when an event is pointed includes the level the content of the event is applied of content provided:
- Advanced Technicalactivity suits a technically-proficient audience seeking to upgrade and improve their skills to become more efficient in their workplace situation.
- Management activity is for managers seeking to gain managerial skills which will improve the productivity, efficiency and quality of the workplace environment under their responsibility. Advanced technicians wishing to move into supervisory and management positions are also eligible under this band.
- Advanced Management activity covers experienced managers wishing to gain vision and skills to further improve the productivity, efficiency and quality of the workplace environment under their responsibility. It will also cover activity which enables experienced managers to transfer their skills into related areas where their sectors and the wider industry benefit.
- The evaluation of learning outcomes at an event is also considered, for example, listening to a webinar for one hour may be worth one point, but if there was an evaluation of learning such as a quiz after the event, additional points would offered if a pre-determined pass rate was achieved.
